Literacy Support/Tutoring

At Communication Garden our Literacy and Reading Support services are designed to help children develop strong reading and language skills essential for academic success. Our experienced Communication Disorders Assistants (CDAs), Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), and Reading Specialists work closely with children and their families to create individualized intervention plans that foster confidence, comprehension, and a love for reading.

How Literacy Support Helps Children

Our literacy and reading support services focus on enhancing a child's ability to engage with language and literacy in meaningful ways.

We address a range of challenges, including:

Phonological Awareness – Developing skills such as rhyming, syllable segmentation, and sound manipulation to build a strong foundation for reading.

Decoding & Phonics – Teaching letter-sound relationships to improve reading accuracy and fluency.

Reading Comprehension – Strengthening understanding of texts by building vocabulary, making inferences, and improving critical thinking skills.

Writing & Spelling Skills – Enhancing sentence structure, grammar, and spelling for effective written communication.

Fluency & Reading Confidence – Helping children read smoothly and expressively to improve their overall literacy experience.

Executive Functioning & Attention Skills – Supporting organization, focus, and working memory strategies for improved academic performance.

Dyslexia & Reading Disorders – Providing targeted interventions to help children with learning differences develop effective reading strategies.

               Our Approach

Multisensory Learning Techniques – Engaging children with hands-on activities, movement, and visual aids to reinforce literacy concepts.

Family Involvement & Training – Providing caregivers with strategies and resources to support literacy development at home.
